Nadiia Krementsov started her career in bridal at a young age. A native of Chernovtsi, Ukraine, she attended a technical high school that specialized in teaching the art of sewing and textiles, where she specifically studied construction of bridal gowns. The city in which she studied is akin to the fashion district in New York City, where multiple designer flagship stores and factories are located. Upon graduation, she immediately went to work with a bridal designer. During her five years with that company, she was responsible for many aspects such as educating other seamstresses, supervising the construction of gowns that were destined for orders in Europe, as well as creating new designs each season.
For the past 15 years Nadiia honed her alteration skills working at several local bridal shops and department stores, and most recently with August Veils. With her extensive knowledge in gown construction, she is able to understand fit issues and can expertly find solutions. There are few seamstresses that will take on challenging assignments such as adding sleeves, extending a train, redesigning a bodice, etc. With Nadiia’s extensive experience, she does not shy away from these types of requests, and helps to guide brides through the process.
"The most enjoyable part of alterations is being able to design and create something custom for a bride and their gown. I love using my experience in garment construction to redesign a gown so that it's unique and personalized for the individual bride."
"I love it when a bride comes in for her final fitting, tries on her gown, and is overwhelmed by how it fits and looks. When a bride tells me it's exactly what they dreamed it would be, it makes all the work worthwhile."
